Shortly after their eyes open our puppies start interacting with each other in new ways. At first there is just posturing. Sight and hearing are not fully developed and they aren't stable on their feet.

In only a week, they have become far more coordinated, their puppy teeth are established and if the weather's right they're ready to go outside. We start making tug toys available, but since our goal at this stage is to give them open spaces to run in and they're not all that good at interpreting what they see, we don't put too many tug toys on the ground yet. They always have a wide variety of toys to play with when they come inside to their playpen with tugs, balls and baby toys constantly being rotated.
